Overwatch League Transfers: Why Fissure Left for LA Gladiators
By Kenn Leandre|February 21, 2018|1 Comment
It’s finally made official and we also know why former KongDoo Panthera and London Spitfire main tank, Chan-hyung “Fissure” Baek left the Stage 1 champions for the struggling LA Gladiators; he wanted more playtime.
In an official statement released by London Spitfire’s coach, Beom-joon “Bishop” Lee, Fissure is having a hard time nailing in a starting spot in the highly competitive, 12-man roster and in his desire for more playtime, decided that a move was best for his career.
As reported by InvenGlobal, Bishop was quoted as saying:
“Fissure is one of the smartest main tanks in the league, but we’ve struggled to fit him into the team in terms of synergy and while we didn’t want to lose him, he is very competitive and seeks the playing time befitting a player of his caliber.”
Confirming the transfer, the official Twitter account for the Gladiators tweeted:
THE GLADIATORS ARE GETTING TANKIER.
We’re welcoming @Fissure to our front line. Read more →

“Fissure is incredibly talented and knows what it means to be at the top. We think he will be a great addition to our team, and we’re really excited to have him on the Gladiators,†said head coach David “dpei†Pei.
The addition of Fissure to the Gladiators beefs up the ridiculously thin tank corps with only Luis “iRemiix” Galarza Figueroa serving as their sole tank player throughout Stage 1. His experience in the smaller and significantly less competitive roster of the Gladiators should place him higher in the pecking order guaranteeing more playtime – something every player wants. Swapping Spitfire’s cyan for Gladiators’ purple, Fissure’s experience will be invaluable for the Gladiators organization and will wear the #1 shirt for his new team.
