Overwatch League: Florida Mayhem Picks Up Korean Trio

Despite their CEO claiming that they won’t be fielding an all-Korean roster;

the Florida Mayhem has picked up three new recruits in preparation of the upcoming Season 2 of the Overwatch League. In a tweet released by their official Twitter account a few hours back, the Mayhem have picked up three seasoned Korean players;

  • Jun-Soo “Kris” CHoi (support) – former Meta Athena
  • Sang-Bum “BQB” Lee (DPS) – former X6-Gaming
  • Sang-Won “Swon” Yoon (tank)- former KongDoo Panthera, Uncia, NRG Esports

While the Mayhem organization claims that these moves are still pending approval, we felt it had a lot relying on potential bans or disciplinary action taken on BQB who was embroiled in a minor boosting-related incident earlier in the year.

Although he wasn’t actively involved in any boosting activities, his former team, X6-Gaming fined him for “promotion of boosting activities”. The fine has been served full but you’ll never know with the inconsistencies from the Overwatch League when it comes to handing out punishments. In our books, until the League says otherwise, we don’t see BQB out of the woods as yet.

These new additions brings the number of Korean players in Florida Mayhem squad to a total of seven out of the nine registered players. After finishing eleventh out of twelve teams last season, the Florida Mayhem cleaned shop and removed six players who formed the core of the team in the inaugural season. All that’s left from the original squad were Tviq, with Sayaplayer and aWesomeGuy joining them midway through Season 1.

They recently recruited Xepher from Seoul Dynasty and promoted former GC Busan and London Spitfire support HaGoPeun from their academy team, Mayhem Academy. The current Florida Mayhem squad are as follows:
