Overwatch League: New Trademark Filing Suggests Potential Name for Team Seoul

A Reddit user spotted something interesting on the Korean intellectual property scene which may provide clues to the yet-to-be-announced official name for Team Seoul in the upcoming Overwatch League (OWL). As suggested by kaizerbba , a Korean IPO filing linked to KSV Services suggests that the Seoul-based team will be called the Seoul Dynasty. It really isn’t rocket science as the organization which operates the Overwatch League team made up of Lunatic-Hai members are KSV Esports.

‘Dynasty’ is fitting name for a team representing Seoul if you ask us considering Lunatic-Hai is probably the only Overwatch team who earns the right to claim of having a dynasty, having dominated the scene for over two years now. They are two-time, back-to-back champions of OGN APEX and recently won the Seoul Cup OGN Supermatch after defeating Cloud9 KongDoo in the finals. Representing Seoul also confers them the right to use the term ‘dynasty’ considering Korea being the undisputed esports central of the world.

They recently added three new members to the team to add more firepower to an already solid backline. Former Flash Lux DPS Byung-sun “Fleta” Kim, former Laser Kittenz DPS Sang-beom “Munchkin” Byeon and former Cloud9 flex Jae-mo “xepheR” Koo all made their debut last weekend against Miraculous Youngsters at the inter-nation invitational Seoul Cup OGN SuperMatch which should put the fear of God in their upcoming OWL opponents.

So far three other teams have confirmed their names for the upcoming Overwatch League – San Francisco Shock, Dallas Fuel and Shanghai Dragons.  Expect more news on OWL as we head closer to the roster cut-off date of October 30th.
