King Recruitment Page Suggest A Mobile Call of Duty Game is in the Works

A mobile version of popular FPS game, Call of Duty is in the works according to the recruitment page of London-based games development company, King Digital Entertainment.

As first reported by gameinformer, the posting on King’s official site explicitly claimed that the developer has been tasked with adapting Call of Duty to the mobile landscape. Interested in applying as Lead Designer? Well be ready to travel as the studio working on it will be based out of Stockholm, Sweden.

“In collaboration with Activision Blizzard, we are adapting one of the most iconic game franchises of all-time: Call of Duty.”

“The aim is to create a Call of Duty experience on mobile, while also breaking new ground for mobile and redefining the genre. The approach and ambition is to be fresh, social, and highly accessible, while providing a very authentic game experience.” it added.

While there is no clue as to of which period the mobile Call of Duty game is going to be set in, we have a feeling that it will be released annually to complement the PC and console versions carrying the same title. CoD: BLOPS4 Mobile anyone? We are game.

A subsidiary of Activision following its acquisition in 2015, King is most well known as developers of Candy Crush Saga and operating with a combination of in-game advertising along with microtransaction mechanisms in their products.

With the resurgence of shooting games on mobile, most prominently in the battle royale genre, we aren’t surprised that this may be King’s gambit in tapping into that burgeoning scene – possibly another avenue for esports – while at the same time expanding the reach of Activision’s Call of Duty franchise.
