[Report] We Won’t Be Seeing New Star Wars Stories For A While…

With Solo: A Star Wars Story doing okay in the international box offices -but not Disney money OK where they can fund a peninsular- it seems that Disney will be putting a temporary kibosh on all future Star Wars Story standalone movies.

This means no Obi-Wan Kenobi movie, no Boba Fett movie, and so forth. Nope, not even a Lando Calrissian spin-off film. According to Collider, the news came in a few days after it was revealed via the tweet below that there will be nine Star Wars movies in development.

Apart from the Obi-Wan and Boba Fett movie which will be directed by Stephen Daldry and Logan’s James Mangold respectively, there will be a new film series by Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi’s Rian Johnson alongside Game of Thrones’ David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Not that it won’t happen; at least until Disney is ready to invest again after recuperating from its Solo outing.

Don’t fret, Star Wars fans: Star Wars Episode IX will still be coming out in December 2019 and will be helmed by J.J Abrams. And then there’s that animated series from Dave Filoni called Star Wars Resistance which is slated later this year. And also that Jon Favreau live-action show. So really, you’re all fine with all of these new Star Wars shows. Just don’t expect callbacks and throwbacks to show up even beyond 2019.

In other news, why not read up our alternatives to Solo: A Star Wars Story’s, er, story?
