Overwatch World Cup: Competing Nations Committees Finalized

The nations’ competition committee for the 2018 Overwatch World Cup has been finally revealed with some interesting names in the mix including popular YouTubers, content creators, an Overwatch League team coaches and even a pro team manager. Following the appointment of these committee members, the participating teams will move to its formation by selecting its roster.

Determined by players in the respective participating countries, notable YouTube personalities involved in the Overwatch World Cup include Oasis “Oasis” Nip (Australia), Nathan “KarQ” Chan (Canada) and Philip “ChipSa” Graham (UK) as their respective country’s Community Lead. The highly popular YouTuber-turned RunAway manager and co-owner, Hyuna “Flowervin” Lee will be the Community Lead for South Korea.

On the coaching side, the top 150 players in the competing nations determine the head coach to lead them and unsurprisingly, a number of Overwatch League coaches were elected to take part in the Overwatch World Cup including New York Excelsior coach, Hyeon-sang “Pavane” Yu (S.Korea), Dallas Fuel’s Aaron “Aero” Atkins (USA), Los Angeles Valiant’s Julien “daemoN” Ducros (France) and Philadelphia Fusion’s Elliott “Hayes” Hayes (UK).

Unlike the two earlier categories, the General Manager of the participating nations are picked by Blizzard and a notable inclusion to this list is former ‘British Consultant’ for the London Spitfire, Tom “Stylosa” Stewart who was selected as the UK team’s General Manager for the Overwatch World Cup.

Over from the Southeast Asia side, we have Thailand and…er… that’s about it. GG, Singapore & the rest of Southeast Asia for this year. Thailand’s General Manager is Manoo “Zynnlol” Hayashi while the coach is Jirawat “HeadHawk” Kalumpanun. The Community Lead is Ampaipak “Ravee” Sanongkun. They’re basically responsible for finding the next Mickie. Or Mickies. No pressure, right?
