If you’re knee-deep in your Spider-Man lore, you’ll want to see this piece of news concerning the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next Spider-Man film. Spoilers, of course.
According to Deadline, Turkish actor Numan Acar has joined the film to play a character named Dmitri. Spider-Man comic book fans may recognize that name since it’s the civilian name for one of his trickier face-changing foes: the Chameleon.
As a bonus, the Chameleon is also the half-brother of another notable Spider-Man villain: Sergei Kravinoff a.k.a Kraven the Hunter. You know, the guy who buried Spider-Man alive at one point and then masqueraded as him.
Numan Acar will be joining new cast member J.B. Smoove and potentially Jake Gyllenhaal, who is in talks to play the magic-laden special effects wiz Mysterio.
Michael Keaton, Zendaya and Marisa Tomei will be returning, with Jon Watts taking directorial reins again from a script by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna. The film will be out July 5, 2019, meaning that there will be three MCU films next year: this one, Captain Marvel, and that fourth Avengers film.
