Latest NVIDIA Driver to Activate Battlefield 5’s DXR Ray Tracing Goodness
By Alleef Ashaari|November 14, 2018|0 Comment
NVIDIA has released its latest Game Ready Driver earlier today to provide the best gaming experience for the recently-released games like Hitman 2 and upcoming titles like Fallout 76.
Most importantly for PC gamers, the latest NVIDIA Game Ready Driver is optimized for DXR Ray Tracing support in Battlefield 5. DXR Ray Tracing is an extension to the DirectX 12 API to support GPU-based DXR Ray Tracing.
To the uninitiated, DXR Ray Tracing essentially brings real-time game graphics to the next generation with improved life-like lighting effects. Details like subtle shadows, authentic reflections of shiny surfaces, and more can be produced by this new technology.
However, the full potential of DXR Ray Tracing will take a while to be realized, as it is predicted that not even next-generation consoles or any single powerful GPU can be expected to run ray tracing technology.
Battlefield 5 is slated to release for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 20, 2018. However, those who pre-order the Deluxe Edition of the game will be granted early access to the game on November 15, 2018, while Origin Access Premium subscribers on PC have already had access to the game since November 9, 2018.
For more details and information on DXR Ray Tracing, check out what the tech experts at Digital Foundry have said about the new technology in the video below.
