Our PS Plus December Games Are Actually Better Than The US

Asian gamers always get the short straw when it comes to PlayStation Plus offerings. For instance, PS Plus subscribers in the US received Yakuza Kiwami and Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition in November 2018, while we only received Beyond: Two Souls and Metronomicon: Slay the Dance Floor.

For the first time in a while (past several months), we’re finally getting better games than the US. Our PS Plus December 2018 lineup includes underrated gems like Gravity Rush 2 and God Eater 2: Rage Burst. Meanwhile, US gamers are only getting SOMA and Onrush.

Look, I’m not saying SOMA and Onrush aren’t great games in their own right. I’m just pointing out that (comparatively in terms of value and content) Gravity Rush 2 and God Eater 2: Rage Burst to be arguably better.

Gravity Rush 2 (PS4)

Gravity Rush 2

This action-adventure PS4 exclusive released to little fanfare in 2017, despite featuring innovative and refreshing gameplay. Fans of the game will understand how freeing and exhilarating it feels to control the game protagonist Kat’s ability to manipulate gravity, using the Dualshock 4’s under-utilized touchpad and motion gyroscope controls.

Although Gravity Rush 2 managed to accumulate a healthy community of fans and a cult following, it was ultimately not enough for Sony, who pulled the plug on the game’s server in July 2018. However, it’s still a great single-player game that everyone should play.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst (PS4)

God Eater 2 Rage Burst

Think of the God Eater franchise as something of an anime version of Monster Hunter, albeit based in a post-apocalyptic wasteland filled with mutated humans-turned-monsters called Aragami. Instead of bone swords and bow guns, God Eater 2: Rage Burst features uncannily huge weapons like giant swords and hammers, that can also transform into humongous guns and rifles.

It’s a great decision to offer God Eater 2: Rage Burst as a PS Plus free game now, with God Eater 3 slated to release worldwide next year on February 8, 2019. Japanese gamers will receive the game several months earlier on December 13, 2018.

Katamari Damashii No Vita (PS Vita)

Touch My Katamari

The PS Vita may be dead but Sony isn’t forgetting Vita owners just yet. The Japanese version of Touch My Katamari will be available to play as a PS Plus free game, having originally launched way back in 2011.

Asian PS Plus subscribers will be able to download all three games starting from December 6, 2018, to January 9, 2019. In the meantime, check out the PlayStation Plus December 2018 lineup trailer below, courtesy of PlayStation Asia.
