Rocksteady’s Rumored Superman: World’s Finest Game Might Show Up at the Game Awards

Rocksteady Studios might be officially announcing their new Superman: World’s Finest game at The Game Awards next week, if the rumors are any indication.

Best known for the Batman: Arkham franchise, the developer has long been hinting at a new game is in development, but has not revealed what it is. Rumors have been circulating since the beginning that the new game focuses on the Man of Steel himself, with the latest evidence considered to be the strongest one yet.

Some gamers on Resetera recently discovered that a new listing on Game System Requirements listed a new Rocksteady Studios game with the title Superman: World’s Finest. The Terms of Use and FAQ on the website make it difficult for just anyone to post a random game or rumor, which makes the new Rocksteady game even more probable.

For instance, a Devil May Cry 5 listing appeared on the site about one month before the game was even officially announced at E3 2018. That lends further credibility to the rumors of the Rocksteady Superman game turning out to be true.

Rocksteady’s last titles were Batman: Arkham Knight and Batman: Arkham VR in 2015 and 2016, respectively. That means that a new game must have been in development for quite a while now, and The Game Awards would a great time to officially reveal it to the world.

If the rumors are true, the title Superman: World’s Finest indicates that the new Rocksteady game will not only focus on Superman but will still bring Batman back into the fray. This is due to the World’s Finest subtitle, which has traditionally been a comic book starring Superman and Batman teaming up for adventures together.

The World’s Finest moniker has since been used to refer to the duo as a sign of respect to two of the most iconic DC Comics heroes, both in-universe and in the real world. We’ll have to wait until The Game Awards next week on December 6 to find out if there’s any truth to the rumors.

In other related news, another rumored The Game Awards announcement is a new Alien game titled Alien: Blackout. Alien: Isolation developer creative Assembly is not involved so it might be closer to the spirit of the second movie instead of the first. See what I have to say about it here.
