You Won’t Believe What The New Birds of Prey Movie Is Called

It seems like Warner Bros doesn’t want us to forget that the upcoming Birds of Prey movie is actually a Harley Quinn spinoff. Margot Robbie revealed the full title of the movie on her Instagram page by posting a picture of the script’s front page, and the official title for the movie is this:
Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
According to the Hollywood Reporter, this is definitely not a joke, despite the fact that it sounds similar to the 2014 Oscar-winning movie Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance).
Earlier this month, we reported that Birds of Prey will star Ewan McGregor as villain Black Mask, alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress and Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary. The movie’s director Cathy Yan also confirmed that the movie will be R-rated and will feature the live-action debut of Cassandra Cain.
My fear of the movie turning out to be too focused on Harley Quinn is becoming more of a reality every day. In the comics, Harley Quinn has never been a Birds of Prey member until very recently, and even then, it was temporary. Now it looks like the DCEU version of the all-female superhero team will be led and even formed by Harley Quinn.
On another note, it’s very likely that the title (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) alludes to the character’s ’emancipation’ from her abusive and self-destructive relationship with the Joker in 2014. Although that relationship defined Harley Quinn since the beginning, she has now developed into her own independent character without needing to tie to the Clown Prince of Crime.
Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is slated to release on February 7, 2020.
