Catch Stan Lee’s Touching Final Animated Cameo Here

Everyone’s asking about Stan Lee‘s final live-action cameos, but how about the late legend’s last animated cameo? Was it in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse? Sorry, true believers, but that wasn’t actually his last cameo in animation.

In the most recent episode of Avengers: Black Panther’s Quest (Avengers Assemble Season 5) titled ‘T’Chanda’, Stan Lee guest-starred alongside Mark Hamill and Hayley Atwell in what will now be recognized as his last ever animated cameo. The episode in question is set in the 1940s, as Captain America and Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) teams up with Black Panther T’Chanda (T’Challa’s grandfather) to capture Arnim Zola (Mark Hamill) and Baron Zemo.

According to Marvel’s Senior Vice President of Animation & Family Entertainment Cort Lane on the official website, Stan Lee’s speech as a general in the cameo was inspired by his own famous Stan’s Soapbox column from 1968, in which the legend denounced bigotry and racism (which was rampant during his time and sadly, ours too).

“That particular episode [of Marvel’s Avengers: Black Panther’s Quest] has personal meaning for me,” said Lane. “I believe it’s his last recorded appearance in animation. It’s bittersweet, but I’m so glad we were able to capture a message that was very true to how Stan felt about the world and that inspired him to write a lot of the stories that he did.”

Watch the touching final animated cameo of Stan Lee below, and try not to cry (I know I did).
