Rocket League Becomes Second Game To Support Cross-Play On All Platforms

Sony has announced that it’s finally allowing cross-play for Rocket League on the PS4, which means that players can now virtually play the game with each other across all platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.

The popular game developed by Psyonix is only the second game to join Sony’s historic PlayStation Cross-Play Beta program after Fortnite in September last year. To enable Rocket League cross-play on the PS4, just to the Main Menu, select Options and ensure that the Cross-Platform Play box is checked under the Gameplay tab.

A cross-platform party system will arrive in Rocket League in its first incoming update for 2019, confirms Psyonix. This upcoming feature will allow players to partner up with friends on any platform with the push of a few buttons.

“Today’s announcement is an important one for us here at Psyonix because we know how much our community has wanted full cross-platform support for quite some time,” said Psyonix Vice President of Publishing Jeremy Dunham. “It’s because of you, our fans, and our generous partners on all systems and services that have made this possible in the first place. On behalf of the entire team, THANK YOU for your passion and persistence as we continue to do our best to make Rocket League the best experience we can.”

This is great news for the gamers around the world, as we get closer to a world where players can play with or against each other in any game on any platform they so choose. While that future may still be a long way off from becoming a reality, every small step counts towards accomplishing that dream of a more inclusive gaming community for everyone.
