The Next Alien Survival Horror Game Is For Mobile Because That’s What People Asked For
After much teasing and speculating, we now get to see the latest game in the much-lauded Alien franchise in action. And just like that one announcement at BlizzCon 2018, it certainly took a lot of hardcore fans by surprise.
Alien: Blackout is an upcoming iOS/Android mobile game from FoxNext Games, D3 Go!, and Rival Games. According to the official website, you play as Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Ellen Ripley, who has to “stay alive while trapped aboard a crippled Weyland-Yutani space station carrying a deadly xenomorph”.
“Outsmart the perfect hunter by making perilous choices. Players must rely on the damaged controls of the space station or risk sacrificing crew members to avoid deadly contact, permanently altering the outcome of the game.”
Players will get to use a holographic map, surveillance cameras, and motion trackers as they detect and run away from the xenomorph. So where does Alien: Isolation fit in all of this? Is Alien: Blackout a reboot or revamp? Did anyone ask for a mobile survival horror game using the Alien name?
At this time of posting, the trailer has received more dislikes than likes. Understandable, given the fact that sci-fi gaming fans were looking forward to a console/PC survival horror experience.
Who knows? It might turn out A-OK. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
