Metroid Prime 4 Current Development Is Scrapped; Guess Who’s Fixing It? (Update)
In a move on-par with the company, Nintendo is going to start development on a much-anticipated title from scratch. That game is Metroid Prime 4, which was revealed during E3 2017 week on a special Nintendo Direct video.
According to a recent official video, senior managing executive officer Shinya Takahashi said the game’s current development state is currently below expectations. The developers behind the current build of the game is Bandai Namco Studios Japan and Singapore; the latter is helmed by a number of ex-Lucasart Singapore talent.
The solution? Nintendo will be getting the original guys who did the past Metroid Prime games to re-do the whole game. I’m talking about Retro Studios, the folks who have done stellar work with Nintendo franchises despite the company’s dubious origins.
Furthermore, Retro Studios will be doing a port of the previous Metroid Prime games in one Nintendo Switch package. According to Game Informer senior editor Imran Khan, it’s been long done and its initial announcement was supposed to be last month. He also shared some insider knowledge regarding Metroid Prime 4’s development.
Internal thinking was that it needs to be all under one roof to right the ship. Interestingly, Retro made the pitch for their involvement and put together a demo that Nintendo liked.

For now, why not use Samus and Zero Suit Samus in that new Smash Bros game everyone’s playing right now?
