Trine 4 Is Swinging Back To 2.5D Late 2019

2019 heralds the return of the Trine trio – Zoya the thief, Pontius the knight, and  Amadeuswizard on another quest involving timed puzzles and getting all three of them from point A to point B. That’s right: Trine 4 – The Nightmare Prince is a reality and it’s coming out for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

After the misstep that is Trine 3(D), the game is going back to its 2.5D roots, with 2D gameplay and platforming coupled with lovely and bright 3D graphics. Seriously, we’ve never seen Trine look this damn good. Hats off to developer Frozenbyte for a job well done.

To recap, the Trine series is about solving puzzles & physics challenges using the abilities of the aforementioned trio. Zoya can use a grappling hook and attack with arrows. Pontius can bash enemies and obstacles, as well as brandish a shield. Amadeus can summon blocks that can either be used for puzzle-based applications and on enemies.

The game will be out for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in Autumn 2019 for US$29.99. If you want to collect all four games, you can do that too with the Trine Ultimate Collection, also slated for Autumn 2019 and for all four platforms; it’ll cost you US$49.99.

Check out these fresh 2.5D screenshots below to see it in its fantasy and Wind In The Willows-esque glory.
