First Globe Esports Center Opens In The Philippines

Globe Telecom has launched its very first esports center (ESC) in the Philippines. The Globe ESC is located at Play Nation in UP Town Center, Quezon City, where it will bring local communities of gamers together.

The goal of the Globe’s Games and Esports program is to strengthen the grassroots level of esports in the country in cooperation with various fan communities. The company’s esports #PlayItRight advocacy campaign also emphasizes the importance of discipline, nutrition, physical wellness and cognitive development in esports.

Globe SVP and Head for Content Business Group Nikko Acosta said:

“The ESC is an experience hub in which Filipino gamers and gaming enthusiasts can participate in competition, creation of live streaming content, and interaction with other members of different esports communities.

We want to bring together different communities of popular games like Arena of Valor (AOV), Rules of Survival (ROS), League of Legends and Tekken among others in one venue to upgrade their knowledge and gauge their skill levels with others through peer learning of new strategies and techniques.”

Local esports personalities were invited to the Globe ESC’s official launch recently, including renowned streamers Rikki “Riku” Quiapon and Theo “Arctikuno” Rodriguez, both of whom also hosted said event.

Globe ESC at Play Nation in UP Town Center offers mini-tournaments, gameplay, and fan meet-ups, as well as meet and greets with Team Liyab, Globe’s official professional esports team in partnership with Mineski. It is open to the public from now to 24 March 2019.
