Minecraft’s New Update Removes Notch Reference
By Syazwan Bahri|March 28, 2019|0 Comment
Get this: the latest Minecraft Java snapshot release, 19w13a, adds in features like a status effect called “Hero of the Village”, as well as an accessibility button on the title screen.
Besides that, the devs also added new quotes on the splash screen, like “Don’t worry, be happy!” and “Go to the dentist.” They also wiped out the two splash screen messages that referenced original Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson.
Twitter user decrepitlab pointed out that the lines were scrubbed in the 27 March snapshot on the wiki list. The lines in question were “Made by Notch!” and “The Work of Notch!”
As you can see in the screenshot, the lines have now disappeared, and will forever be forgotten and lost in the dark corners of time.
Notch sold Mojang to Microsoft in 2014 for USD 2.5 billion, just after the game went public for 5 years. Notch said he “decided that he doesn’t want the responsibility of owning a company of such global significance”.
Over the past few years, he’s made attempts to work on smaller projects, but the pressure of owning Minecraft became too much for him to handle’.
