[Report] Ninja Gets A Million Bucks To Promote Apex Legends
By Syazwan Bahri|March 14, 2019|0 Comment
It’s no surprise that EA is using streamers to promote Respawn’s battle royale, Apex Legends. In fact, it is part of a respectable marketing campaign that somehow worked wonderfully. Now, EA is taking it to the next level by paying Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins an amount of US$1 million (RM 4 million). This would be one of the reasons why Apex Legends caught on so much traction during its release.
A source from Reuters claimed that Ninja received the amount to play Apex Legends on 5 February, even if it’s not for long. An EA spokesperson spoke to Kotaku that any streamed content of the game after midday on 5 February is totally ‘organic’, that is to say, people kept playing without getting any kind of money.
A million bucks is a really huge amount of money, even for Ninja., He once told the CNN that he earns US$ 500,000 (RM 2 million) on an average month, even more on better months, but keep in mind that the half a million dollars came from multiple sources; Twitch, YouTube, and sponsorships. This deal was twice as large, and he didn’t even have to stream more than a few hours.
As long as Respawn doesn’t fit dance moves into the game, hey, I’m all for promoting Respawn’s magnificent game. Let’s keep the King’s Canyon dance-free and all killing spree.
