Spend RM2,999 To Play Mobile Legends & PUBG On A XiaoMi Gaming Phone

Oh, wow, a new gaming phone has arrived in Malaysia, and it’s yet another overpriced piece of machinery which so-called gamers will use to just play Mobile Legends and PUBG Mobile. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

Here are the details of the new XiaoMi Black Shark 2 smartphone.

According to Soya Cincau, there are two spec variants of the Black Shark 2:

  • 8GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM2,499
  • 12GB RAM + 256GB storage – RM2,999

Both variants come with a Snapdragon 855, the first phone with that processor to arrive in Malaysia, along with a 6.39″ AMOLED Full HD+ display. There are also unnecessary features like a 3D-Touch gaming feature called MasterTouch and a built-in liquid cooling system.

A special launch promo is currently available via Shopee Malaysia, in which they are offering an RM100 off voucher and Fujitsu E210BT headphones worth RM399 for the first 200 customers.

To capitalize on its “gaming” brand, the Black Shark 2 comes with its own “gaming” accessories. Yes, it’s a gaming phone that’s marketed like it’s a gaming PC. Users can purchase a GamePad 2.0 for RM129/RM139, a cooling case for RM269, and a bunch of other junk like a stand for that gamepad.

What’s ridiculous is that the left and right controllers are sold separately. And when did phones even require cooling cases in the first place? Maybe it’s time we should stop pretending that gaming phones are like gaming PCs when normal smartphones are already powerful enough to play the most demanding mobile games.
