‘Game Over’ Means Something Different In Cyberpunk 2077
By Alleef Ashaari|April 2, 2019|0 Comment
In the past, CD Projekt Red confirmed that the missions and quests in Cyberpunk 2077 will allow for “emergence in gameplay”, which means that they will be complex enough to be completed in a variety of ways. Now we’ve learned that the very same feature will also be affecting how “Game Over” works in the upcoming RPG game.
Speaking with German publication GameStar (via PCGamesN), CD Projekt Red’s Philipp Weber said that Cyberpunk 2077 won’t have a ‘Game Over’ screen unless the player dies. What this means is that even if players fail any particular quest’s objectives or get somebody else (NPCs) killed in the process, the game will still continue on.
Of course, there will be complicated consequences for having failed the quest or getting that NPC (or NPCs) killed, but unlike other games, there will be no “Game Over” screen. All this makes for more immersive gameplay and will encourage players to actually complete quests however they want (and according to their own unique playstyles), instead of following a scripted line of events.
Cyberpunk 2077 is sounding more and more revolutionary as more details and pieces of information are revealed. Will the game be as iconic and as much a game-changer as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was for the industry?
Here’s hoping that we’ll be seeing more of it at E3 2019 later this year, especially since CD Projekt Red is calling it “their most important one yet”.
