First Look At The Spiritual Successor To Your Name, Weathering With You

Makoto Shinkai directed one of the best films of 2016, Your Name. The anime had a strong release and it was the highest-grossing anime film of all time worldwide, with a box office of $358 million (RM1.46 billion). With a strong rating of 8.4 on IMDb and 9.1 on MyAnimeList.net, it’s surely an anime one cannot miss.

This summer, he’s back with another anime, Weathering With You, or Tenki no Ko, or “Weather Child”  in Japanese.

In many ways, this looks like a sequel to the critically acclaimed Your Name, but it’s more of a spiritual successor.

Weathering With You is about the tale of a young man who lands a job at an occult magazine publication and meets a young girl with the ability to change the weather at her whim.

Weathering With You releases in Japan on 19 July. So far, we have no international release date, but that may change soon.
