Avengers Endgame Won’t Be End Of Phase 3, Says Kevin Feige

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced a startling revelation in Shanghai last week (via Newsweek) when he said that Avengers Endgame (despite its title literally containing the word ‘Endgame’) will not be the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 3 as was previously believed.

Instead, the movie that will mark the end of the MCU’s Phase 3 will be Spider-Man Far From Home, which releases on 2 July 2019. Feige also pointed out that this was the first time that he has confirmed the fact in public.

Although this move may seem weird, Marvel Studios has not always ended previous phases with Avengers movies. For instance, Phase 2 ended with Ant-Man and not Avengers Age of Ultron.

What this means is that Spider-Man Far From Home will probably be the first MCU movie to explore the new status quo post-Avengers Endgame. Perhaps we’ll even receive something that directly teases the first MCU Phase 4 movie since we still have no idea what the next movie after Spider-Man Far From Home will be.

It could be any one of the movies Marvel Studios currently has in development, including The Eternals, Shang-Chi, Black Widow, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, or even the Doctor Strange sequel.

Whatever the first MCU Phase 4 movie turns out to be, we’ll have to watch Avengers Endgame, which releases on 24 April 2019. In the meantime, check out our cheat sheet on what movie to watch before Avengers Endgame here or our ranking of every MCU movie from worst to best here.
