Driveclub Servers Will Shut Down In 2020
By Syazwan Bahri|April 1, 2019|0 Comment
Driveclub, the PlayStation 4 exclusive racer, will have its servers shut down exactly next year on 31 March, 2020.
The game’s spinoffs, Driveclub VR and Driveclub Bikes, are slated to have their servers to shut down as well as all the DLCs removed from the PlayStation Store on 31 August 2019.
Owners of any of the games aforementioned will still be able to play the single-player mode when the server gets wiped, but all of the online features will be unavailable. It’s sad news to hear as Driveclub touted itself as a social game.
Here are the features available after the server shuts down:
The games will also be removed from the PlayStation Store. This would mean that the game will no longer be purchasable after 31 August this year. So, if anyone wants to keep or play Driveclub, you have to buy it before it gets pulled off the store.
Driveclub featured stunning graphics, such as realistic rain patterns on the windscreen and true-to-life details when it comes to the design of the cars. Even the sky was detailed meticulously using a technology called truSKy, the same engine used in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.
However, the market for driving simulators on the PlayStation 4 is mostly dominated by more popularly known and established games like Gran Turismo Sport, or the Need For Speed series. Or if you want to talk about racing games on other platforms that are more noteworthy, the Forza series and its Horizon offshoots.
