Here’s Our First Look At Star Wars’ The Mandalorian
By Alleef Ashaari|April 15, 2019|0 Comment
The Mandalorian showrunners Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, as well as the show’s stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, and Carl Weathers, assembled during a special panel at Star Wars Celebration 2019 to tell us more about the upcoming Disney Plus series.
Taking place between the events of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of The Jedi and Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, The Mandalorian explores the same era as the one featured in the currently-ongoing animated series Star Wars Resistance.
Pedro Pascal plays the protagonist known simply as the Mandalorian. Pascal described his character as a “mysterious lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy with questionable moral character”, as well as being “in line with some of our best westerns and some good samurai”.
He also cited Clint Eastwood as his biggest inspiration in his performance. His character’s real name remains undisclosed for now, which means that it will probably be tied to the story in some way. Perhaps we’ll hear familiar names like Clan Viszla or even Clan Wren in the series.
Gina Carano plays Cara Dune (spelling unconfirmed at the time of writing), who is an “ex-Rebel shock trooper”. She described her character as a “loner who has trouble reintegrating herself into society” after the Galactic Civil War is over.
Carl Weathers plays Grief Carga (spelling unconfirmed at the time of writing), who is the leader of a “group/guild of bounty hunters”. He hires the Mandalorian to find and recover a very valuable product for a client.
Last but not least, Favreau reveals the name and design of the ship piloted by the Mandalorian, which is called Razor Crest (spelling unconfirmed at the time of writing). A model of the Razor Crest was made to be used in production, similar to the way that footage (with ships like the Millennium Falcon or the X-Wing) were shot in the past.
The Mandalorian is slated to release exclusively on Disney Plus on 12 November 2019, merely days before the release of EA and Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. In the meantime, check out everything we know so far about Disney Plus here.
