Get Ready To See More Of The Shazam Family In The Future
By Alleef Ashaari|April 19, 2019|0 Comment
At the time of writing, Shazam! has managed to garner $279 million in total earnings at the worldwide box office, as well as maintaining its 91 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Earlier this month, we reported that a Shazam! sequel is already in the works but it seems like there may more to that story.
In a recent interview with Parade, Michelle Borth, who plays Billy Batson’s adoptive sister Mary Bromfield (or Mary Marvel) in Shazam!, has revealed that she was cast in the role after a single taped audition without even initially knowing what movie it was for.
However, the biggest revelation from that interview is that she has actually signed on to a five-picture deal with Warner Bros. for her role as Mary Bromfield.
“I had never gotten a role from one taped audition, let alone a five-picture deal with Warner Bros. from a one-tape audition. You always have to go through a really long process. There’s a fight to get there, so it was a really incredible moment.”
Actors and actresses signing on for multiple movies are fairly common nowadays, especially for comic book adaptations where they are expected to appear in other movies in the same cinematic universe.
Though this doesn’t necessarily mean that Warner Bros. is planning five Shazam! movies, it does indicate that the company still has faith in its DC movies. The potential is enormous, as we could be seeing the Shazam family popping up in other movies as well, including future sequels and maybe even the upcoming Black Adam movie starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
A post-credits scene at the end of Shazam! revealing the introduction of a new mysterious villain means that there’s more than enough material for future sequels.
