Persona 5 Royal Out 2020, Here’s What To Expect
By Alleef Ashaari|April 24, 2019|1 Comment
Atlus has finally revealed what exactly Persona 5 Royal is, and it’s essentially a Persona 4 Golden type of upgrade for the 2017 JRPG hit. The expanded version of Persona 5 will release for the PS4 in Japan on 31 October 2019 (Halloween!) while the rest of the world (Asia and the West) will receive the localized version of the game sometime in 2020.
According to Gematsu, here are all the new features and additions players can look forward to in Persona 5 Royal:
An unknown young man is featured in the trailer, with fans already speculating that he might be the human form of Morgana/Mona (just like how Persona 4‘s Teddie had his human form)
Here’s the official description of the mysterious new female character named Kasumi Yoshizawa making her debut in Persona 5 Royal:
“A beautiful girl who transfers to Shujin Academy the same year the protagonist moves to Tokyo.
She has made outstanding achievements as a rhythmic gymnast since middle school, and Shujin Academy has great expectations for her future.
She seems to admire the protagonist, but rejects the Phantom Thieves…?
Whether she is an enemy or ally remains to be seen.”
What’s interesting is that her Phantom Thieves costume looks a lot like Joker’s, though a lot sexier in nature. Her melee weapon of choice seems to be a longsword, while her ranged weapon is a rifle. That’s instant fan favorite material right there.
Persona 5 Royal will also add a new Confidant named Takuto Maruki, along with a new Arcana called “Le Consultant.†A new Arcana means a bunch of new Personas to look forward to.
Here’s the official description for the new Confidant character:
“A part-time school counselor hired at the concern of the students followed by the case of a certain teacher that occurred in April at Shujin Academy.
With his good listening skills and detailed advice, he is popular among the students.”
Outside of combat, players can look forward to all-new city areas like Tokyo’s Kichijouji, a “Darts Live†collaboration, new dating locations, and what looks like the ability to take group selfies as part of “memories in photographs”.
During combat, new strong enemies will be added, as well as additional content in the Velvet Room and mysterious new treasure in Palaces. More elements will also be introduced, including the new Status Assist feature, where players will receive suggestions on how to spend their time outside of school.
Persona 5 was a hit partly due to its great music and soundtrack. Players can look forward to new songs in Persona 5 Royal.
Persona 5 Royal will feature enhanced graphics, with greater detail and higher resolution than ever before.
That’s all the information we have for now. Atlus has promised more details to arrive on 9 May 2019, so we’ll have to wait until then. In the meantime, check out the Japanese trailer for Persona 5 Royal below.
