New Earthworm Jim Game Announced, But…

It’s been a whopping 20 years since the last Earthworm Jim game, Earthworm Jim: Menace 2 the Galaxy for the Game Boy and Game Boy Color in 1999. Now a new Earthworm Jim game is in the works, with several members of the original development team returning (via Siliconera).

Is it coming out for the PS4, Xbox One, PC or Nintendo Switch? I’m afraid not. It’s going to be exclusive to the upcoming new Intellivision Amico video game console.

Details about the game are next to none as of now, but we do know that 10 people from the original team who worked on the first Earthworm Jim game are developing the new game, including creator Doug TenNapel and franchise composer/sound designer Tommy Tallarico.

The Intellivision Amico is slated to launch in 2020. It will feature a “21st century 2D chip and architecture”, making the console strictly for games with two-dimensional graphics, as well as an all-exclusive library of family-friendly games.

More information about the new Earthworm Jim game will be revealed at 12pm PT on Saturday, 4 May 2019, or 3am GMT+8 on Sunday, 5 May 2019 during a live stream on the Intellivision Amico FacebookTwitch, and YouTube pages.
