Steam is best known for its massive holiday sales but it looks like a contender is about to join the fray. The Epic Games Store may be gearing up for its first major sale, as evident by a message of the day that appeared when everyone logged into Fortnite yesterday.
As posted on Reddit, the panel in question states:
“The Epic Games store Megasale is happening right now! Sign up for [two-factor authentication] in order to get $10 to spend in the store.”
Many Fortnite players were surprised because there obviously wasn’t any sale currently going on, which must mean that it was a leak. Not long after, Epic Games themselves confirmed that the Epic Games Store Mega Sale is coming, but it hasn’t launched yet.
Whoops! An MOTD snuck out about a sale. There is an Epic Games store sale on games in the works, but it hasn’t launched yet. Stay tuned to @EpicGames for details in a few days.

The company promised more details in the coming days. It will be interesting to see how the Epic Games Store Mega Sale will fare against Steam’s famous sales. Valve will probably be preparing for its summer sale soon (perhaps by the end of June), so this will be the first time in a while that there will be real competition for them.
