AMD’s Next-Gen Navi Radeon RX 5700 GPU To Rival NVIDIA’s RTX 2070

AMD recently delivered its keynote at Computex 2019, one of the world’s biggest computer events currently taking place in Taipei, Taiwan. Amongst its many new announcements, the tech giant has revealed its new lineup of -next-gen GPUs: the AMD Radeon RX 5700-series powered by its brand-new Navi architecture.

Officially though, the company is calling its new Navi architecture by the name of RDNA, or Radeon DNA. The graphics card confirmed by AMD so far is the RX 5700, a mid-range GPU which will rival that of NVIDIA’s own RTX 2070.

At its keynote, AMD presented a demo for the Rebellion Developments’ Strange Brigade game, in which its new RX 5700 is shown to be 10% faster and more powerful than the NVIDIA RTX 2070. Besides that, it will also be the first-ever GPU to support PCIe 4.0 technology.

However, the company did not reveal any more technical specs or expected pricing for the new Radeon RX 5000-series. It is slated to go on sale sometime in July 2019. In the meantime, more details and information will probably be announced at AMD’s upcoming gaming-focused presentation at E3 2019.

During AMD’s Computex 2019 opening keynote, AMD President and CEO Dr. Lisa Su said:

“2019 is off to an incredible start for AMD as we celebrate 50 years of innovation by delivering leadership products to push the limits of what is possible with computing and graphics technology,

We made significant strategic investments in next-generation cores, a breakthrough chipset design approach, and advanced process technologies to deliver leadership 7nm products to our high-performance computing ecosystem.

We are extremely excited to kick-off Computex 2019 together with our industry partners as we prepare to bring our next generation of Ryzen desktop and EPYC server processors and Radeon RX gaming graphics cards to market.”
