Let’s be honest, the recent Ghostbusters remake movie was a total disaster, and there’s nothing to cleanse the palate from the bad after taste.

Until now.

Sony has just announced that the 2009 Ghostbusters: The Video Game developed by Terminal Reality will be remastered on the PlayStation 4 with high-resolution visuals. We assume there will be more bells and whistle as development progresses.

The game will feature cutscenes from the original source material remastered into 4K with enhanced textures and lighting.

But most importantly, the spirit of the 80s Ghostbusters is retained. The original cast consisting of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson still remains voice and likeness-wise. Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis were also involved in the writing of the original game, which has been preserved in the upcoming remaster.

For those who haven’t played the original, you’ll be playing as a new member of the team, but will work alongside the main characters of the movie franchise. You’ll be using tools seen in the movie like the PKE meter and the Proton Pack, wrangling ghosts around New York City’s iconic locations such as Time Square and Central Park.

So far the trailer only provides a vague release window of ‘coming 2019’. I’m guessing it will be released around the end of this year.
