Dreamworks’ Abominable Trailer Showcases Yeti Adventure Set In China
By Alleef AshaariVerified|May 24, 2019|1 Comment
Dreamworks has released the first trailer for Abominable, its next movie after the phenomenal How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World earlier this year. Curiously enough, it’s set to be the third animated movie in the span of just one year featuring Yetis or Bigfoot after Warner Bros’ Smallfoot and Studio Laika’s Missing Link.
However, Abominable distinguishes itself by featuring all-Asian (non-white) protagonists in the form of Yi (Chloe Bennet), Peng (Albert Tsai), and Jin (Tenzing Norgay Trainor). That’s not all, as the movie is set in China and the Himalayas in Tibet.
This is all made possible due to the fact that Abominable is also co-produced by a Chinese animation studio, Pearl Studio. The story follows the three protagonists trying to reunite their Yeti companion, whose name is Everest, with its family at Mount Everest. Along the way, antagonists Burnish (Eddie Izzard) and Dr. Zara (Sarah Paulson) will try to get in their way.
Abominable is slated for release on 27 September 2019. In the meantime, check out the trailer below.
