Final Fantasy Brave Exvius Gets Strategy RPG Spin-Off For Late 2019

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius was a fun if very simple and gacha-heavy RPG I used to work on back in 2016. Since I left its developer house gumi Inc./gumi Asia a while back, it’s been growing and shaping up pretty well, arguably even better than before despite that one hacking issue in 2017.

So much so that its really funky spin-off brand name is getting, you guessed it, another spin-off game in the form of a tactical strategy RPG ala Final Fantasy Tactics. The game’s full title is War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Quite a mouthful, no?

Developed by gumi, the game is set in some continent called Adler, in the world of Lapis. Battles in the game are on a 3D field, and they feature both an Auto mode and High Speed mode for grinding purposes. Yes, you’ll still get your ass kicked by higher-level enemies and bosses if you don’t play this like a proper strategy game.

True to FF fashion, each character has unique Limit Bursts special moves and abilities, as well as Summons that come with flashy 3D movies like in Brave Exvius. You can also tweak and mix character classes with the game’s Job System.

Quest-wise, War of the Visions: FFBE will overload you with World Quests, Event Quests, Multi Quests, Multi Raids, duel modes among players (PvP), and more. It’s sounding more like a portable FF Tactics tailor-made for its platform, but with less Ivalice and Shakespearean melodrama. We’ll take what we can get.

The game looks like a revamped version of The Alchemist Code from gumi Inc./gumi Asia. Do check it out if you think the comparisons are apt.

If this sounds like your cup of tea, you can pre-register for the Japanese beta here. If 400,000 pre-registrations are achieved, you can get Siren as a summon. If it hits 500,000, you get FFXIV’s cat mage Y’shtola Rhul as a playable unit.
