E3 2019: Auto Chess Is Going To Be A Thing On Epic Games Store, Huh?

One of the most popular mods for Dota 2 is going to be a standalone game on the Epic Games Store. Hooray for those people, I guess.

Dota Auto Chess, a joy-filled deck-based Dota 2 game that made Artifact obsolete and Malaysian/Singaporean streamers go nuts over for some unknown reason, was so popular it’s going to be a Valve-made game on Steam. However, original modder Drodo Studios will not be helping the company out for that version, opting to develop the one for Epic Games.

Here’s why Valve cannot work together with Drodo:

“We had great conversations, but we both came to the conclusion that Valve and Drodo could not work directly with each other for a variety of reasons. We ended up agreeing that we’ll each build our own stand-alone version of the game, and support each other to the fullest.”

The version for Epic Games Store is called, well, Auto Chess, and will also roll out for mobile. In other words, we’re living in a world where there are two types of Auto Chess games, one for each rival digital distribution store. Jesus.
