E3 2019: Super Smash Bros Ultimate Gets Two New Additions From Square Enix & Rare

The next new wave of playable fighters for Nintendo Switch exclusive Super Smash Bros Ultimate was revealed during Nintendo Direct E3 2019. The Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age hero/protagonist and none other than Banjo-Kazooie will be making their debut in the brawler extravaganza sometime this summer and fall, respectively.

It’s a no-brainer why the Dragon Quest hero has been chosen to join the growing roster of Super Smash Bros Ultimate. The popularity of the franchise in Japan rivals that of Final Fantasy, and while it may not be as popular worldwide, the release of last year’s excellent Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age is slowly changing that.

As an added value for veteran fans of the franchise, there will be multiple skins of heroes from other Dragon Quest entries to choose from.

Banjo-Kazooie

Banjo-Kazooie are the stars of Rare’s iconic platformer game franchise. They’re actually two different characters controlled as one; a bear named Banjo and a red bird named Kazooie.

Fans have long been asking for this character to join the Super Smash Bros roster due to the fact that they made their original debut in the very first game on the Nintendo 624 way back in 1998.
