Epic Games’ Fortnite is far from finished, but recent news might steer the battle royale ship to a different money-making course.
According to a SuperData report as of late, the game’s digital revenues have decreased significantly from the same month last year. The amount? Still a whopping US$203 million across all platforms in May 2019, which is 38% lower than its May 2018 revenues.
SuperData points out that the decrease in revenues is due to a 6% drop in overall mobile spending. This is far from bad news; Fortnite has improved its revenue stream in May thanks to its new season and Battlepass offer. However, this means Epic Games may not see returns in the esports/competitive aspects of Fortnite as of yet.
