Yuzo Koshiro & Friends Will Be Composing Streets Of Rage 4’s Soundtrack

All is right with the world. Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima, two Japanese video game composers renowned for their works on the Streets of Rage series, will be teaming up with Guard Crush, Lizard Cube, and Dotemu for the fourth Streets of Rage game.

Alongside the duo, famed composers Yoko Shimomura, Hideki Naganuma, and Keiji Yamagishi will also be contributing music to the title’s soon-to-be eclectic soundtrack. Basically, the trio developer/publisher combo, with the help of Brave Wave Productions, has landed not one but FIVE legendary video game composers who may be creating 2019 iterations of late 80s/90s hip hop and club tracks.

Documentary video announcement type-thing at the bottom; do give it a watch!

Here’s A Primer On Why This Is A Big Deal

Having both Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima return to their earlier musical works is a huge seal of approval to get fans hyped for the upcoming sequel. Here are but a few examples as to how catchy and influential their 80s/90s dance hits are in video game history.

The other special guests aren’t no slouches. You already know who Yoko Shimomura is; she did Street Fighter II‘s OST among a ton of others.

Hideki Naganuma is renowned for his Jet Set Radio work.

Keiji Yamagishi is essentially a pioneer in chiptune music, having created the awesome tracks for the NES version of Ninja Gaiden.
