[Report] CD Projekt Red Is Working On Three Cyberpunk Games
By Alleef AshaariVerified|July 2, 2019|0 Comment
Update: they’re not. CD Projekt Red clarified that it’s not working on multiple Cyberpunk 2077 titles. The actual quote was mistranslated on Google Translate. Here’s the full proper quote:
“We currently have a total of five teams working on a number of projects, with three focusing on the development of Cyberpunk 2077. These include CD Projekt Red Warsaw and Kraków, who are handling the main game, as well as the WrocÅ‚aw studio, where around 40 industry specialists are engaged in technology R&D.”
In other words, Cyberpunk is Cyberpunk.
Original story:Â Cyberpunk 2077 is currently one of the most highly-anticipated games, especially after Keanu Reeves’ appearance at the game’s presentation during Microsoft’s Xbox E3 2019 press conference. However, it seems that fans won’t have just one, but three Cyberpunk games to look forward to in the near future.
According to CD Projekt Red president Adam Kiciński (via Polish business website Bankier), the company is developing three Cyberpunk-related projects, one of which we already know is going to be Cyberpunk 2077.
Based on the Google translated version of the report (via GamesRadar), CD Projekt Red CEO Piotr Nielubowicz stated that the second Cyberpunk-related game will be a major title. This sounds like it won’t simply be an expansion but a full-fledged game in its own right:
“Our next big project will also be in the Cyberpunk universe, and we’re already working on it and treating it as a really big and innovative project for us.”
Meanwhile, the third Cyberpunk-related project is said to be a multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077, which could be developed by a smaller 40-person team at CD Projekt Red Warsaw. Each of the three Cyberpunk games is reportedly being headed by their own separate teams.
Last but not least, KiciÅ„ski teased that we’ll be receiving more information on all this at the beginning of 2020, which is when the hype for the game will probably be ten-fold. Here’s what he said:
“A strong dose [of information] should be expected at the beginning of next year when the preview will appear.
Then industry journalists will already be playing and writing about it.”
Cyberpunk 2077 is slated to launch for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on 16 April 2020. In the meantime, head on over here to find out how much space Cyberpunk 2077 will take up on your PS4, or check out the 10 details we learned from the Cyberpunk 2077 E3 2019 demo here.
