Respawn ‘Fixes’ Lightsaber In Their Star Wars Game After Fan Criticism
By Alleef Ashaari|July 4, 2019|0 Comment
I consider myself a pretty huge Star Wars fan, but I shamefully admit that even I didn’t notice anything wrong with how the lightsabers look in Respawn Entertainment‘s Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order E3 2019 demo. Eagle-eyed fans have, however, and the developer has since ‘fixed’ the problem.
What is the problem with protagonist Cal Kestis’ lightsaber in Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, you ask?
Well, apparently lightsabers in the Star Wars franchise are supposed to have white light cores in the middle, with the different colors (blue, green, red, etc) only emanating on the outside of that beam.
The lightsaber in Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order features a solid blue hue in the middle. This means that not only is it not faithful to the source material, but it also looks less vibrant and bright than it should.
In an interview with Game Informer posted on YouTube, game director Stig Asmussen said:
“We made a mistake on that one and since then we’ve fixed it.
That was very fair feedback, very fair criticism, and we’ve tweaked that.
We’ve also tweaked the shape of the lightsaber blade a little bit as well, too.
You can see the difference right away.â€
We’ll probably see this new and improved lightsaber when more of the game is revealed at Gamescom 2019 in August. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is slated to release for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on 15 November 2019. That’s just a month before the release of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker on 20, December 2019.
Until then, re-watch the incredible extended Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order E3 2019 demo below and see if you can now notice what the problem with the lightsaber is.
