The Top 20 2D Fighting Game Characters Of All Time (Part 2)

#1. Ryu (Street Fighter series)

Some people may consider him boring at this point, but there’s a real beauty to the simplicity that Ryu embodies as a character. The classic daddy of all fighting game protagonists, this man has been around the universe and back, fighting everyone and everything with nothing but the clothes on his back, with his only motivation being the desire to become stronger and improve himself.

The years come and go, but Ryu still relies on the same 3 signature moves no matter what game he’s in – whether it’s a fighting game, an RPG, or a party game. Sometimes, the basics are all you need.

Oh and here’s a graphic showing every character that Ryu has ever fought since he made his very first video game appearance. Say what you will, the man is an absolute legend.

All roads lead to Ryu, see?

Is this list awesome? Or is this bulls*** because your favourite 2D fighter isn’t here? Let us know on Kakuchopurei.com or on our Facebook page. If you shout loud enough, we may even have a sequel in the mix.

Bullshit, because Ryu is an overrated garbage can.
