Valve Apologizes For Summer Sale Grand Prix Confusion; Gives Away 5,000 More Games
The Steam Summer Sale Grand Prix has finished; if you haven’t been paying attention, Team Corgi has been winning by a landslide from start to finish. Even with the confusing ruleset, people are still able to exploit it somewhat by just coasting along under one team.
Valve knows this and vows to do better next time. Here’s what they said in their wrapup post:
“Thank you to everyone who participated in the Grand Prix. We realize that the race track had some unexpected turns—we tried to straighten them out when we could, and we’ll anticipate the curves better next time we invite you to the races.”
“As an extra gift for those that participated, we have randomly selected 5000 users that contributed from any team in the Steam Grand Prix to receive the top game from their wishlist. Users that were randomly selected will receive their gift within 48 hours from the end of the Steam Grand Prix.”
As a token of gratitude for putting up with these shenanigans, Valve will be giving away a free game to 5,000 selected users who contributed from any team in the Steam Grand Prix. Said free game will be the top game of the selected user’s wishlist and will be given away 48 hours prior to the end of the Grand Prix, so we suggest you start rearranging that column of yours.
Speaking of race, you can spend your tokens at the Pit Stop; it will be available until 1am on 9th July GMT+8. Go nuts with the points you earned by spending it either on US$4 discount coupons or Corgi-themed Steam wallpapers.
