Granblue Fantasy Versus’ RPG Mode Is A Throwback To The 2D Tales Of Games
The upcoming Arc System Works and Cygames 2D fighting game Granblue Fantasy Versus is going to be packed with features. In addition to modes like arcade, versus, practice, and online, the title will feature a full-blown RPG mode which is sure to blow every other fighting game’s “RPG mode” since, well, the 90s.
This mode will tell a revised tale from the original Granblue Fantasy for mobile platforms, and offer a side-scrolling beat-em-up style gameplay reminiscent of the past SNES Tales Of games; well, just the one. You’ll be customizing your character’s look and equipment, fight a ton of big enemies and engage in a LOT of text and dialogue with talking heads. The RPG mode also offers co-op mode, online or offline.
So what else is new in the land of Granblue Fantasy Versus? The game will only have 11 playable characters, with 3 of them coming soon. Here are the characters revealed so far:
Also, the game will be out on 6th February 2020, which means it was delayed out of its 2019 release window. Boo! To stave your excitement, here are a few high-level videos of the game featuring the recently-revealed Percival (via Gematsu).
