Solid Snake’s VO Says EVO 2019 Organizers Failed To Consult Him & Konami On Tekken 7 Gag

During the awesome Tekken 7 top 8 matches for EVO 2019, this happened:

If you can hear it amidst the commentary & crowd ambience, you can hear the famous codec ring from the Metal Gear series. Fans would assume that main character Solid Snake would appear in Tekken 7 as a guest character, but EVO organizers said it was just “a little joke”.

Turns out, it may be on them. Classic voice actor David Hayter, known for his portrayal of Solid Snake, showed his displeasure at the EVO team for using his voice without his consultation on Twitter. The clip was actually from celebrity “shoutout” service Cameo, where Hayter offers personalized messages for US$75 per clip.

In related news, Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada also wasn’t a fan of the stunt. He said on Twitter that he “especially feels sorry to both Konami and Kojima-san (even though we didn’t do anything wrong).”
