Hideo Kojima Creeps His Way Into Remedy’s Control
By Burhanudin Zamri|August 29, 2019|0 Comment
If you haven’t bought Control, you should. It’s a beautiful game with a great story and crazy gameplay that lets you become a Jedi and throw things around among other abilities… and it even has Hideo Kojima in it.
There’s a side mission in the game called Dr. Yoshimi Tokui’s Guided Imagery Experience which starts after you pick up one of the game’s collectibles, a tape recording.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZFeU29sB7Q&w=560&h=315]I don’t want to spoil the mission for those of you who haven’t played it so basically, you step into a machine and enter a simulated reality while being guided by the voice of a person named Dr. Yoshimi Tokui. He speaks in Japanese and has an English interpreter to help you understand what he’s saying.
Any fan of the Metal Gear Solid creator will instantly recognise that Dr. Yoshimi Tokui is voiced by none other than Hideo Kojima himself. His interpreter? That’s Aki Saito, the communications manager for Kojima Productions. They both appeared side by side at the Gamescom 2019 Opening Night Live.
Okay, now that tweet about Kojima doing voice acting for “other Sam” finally makes sense. That was referring to Remedy Entertainment creative director Sam Lake, famously known for being the man Max Payne‘s face is based on.
He managed to do some voice recording for the other Sam😉 (not for DS) https://t.co/Pq6pYLNR6f
