Here’s A Checklist You Need Before Entering Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Advanced Tips

Here’s for all the veteran hunters seeking for that one last push before we head into Master Rank.

Obsolete Armors

According to players who have tried the expansion, you will definitely need to ditch your tried-and-tested armour sets and craft even the simplest armour for Master Rank. It will be hard to drop our Earplugs 5, Attack Boost 7 build and whatnot, but even the simplest Master Rank armour will help you survive.

Weapons Aren’t Obsolete

Unlike armour, your weapons can be upgraded up into their Master Rank counterparts, so don’t be afraid to craft endgame weapons to quickly get into the expansion.

On that note…

Darn you, huge golden loot box.

… and therefore are obsolete.

Those countless hours farming for Taroth Sword ‘Fire’, wasted.

Easy Streamstones

The Undying Alpenglow Arch-Tempered Zorah Magdaros event quest (currently active until 6 September) seems like a bore, but it’s the easiest Arch-Tempered quest out there, plus it has a high drop rate for Warrior and Hero Streamstones. It’s easier done in a squad, but still doable if SOSed.

Strategy:

Equip 2 Heavy Artillery decos and make sure to have Health Booster and Temporal Mantle ready.

Phase 1

The first phase requires you to destroy 3 Magmacores. These Magmacores explode in a period of time, dealing heavy damage. So, to mitigate that, have one person stick a Health Booster at the core while the squad deals damage. This helps you maintain DPS while healing. Repeat for 2nd Magmacore (the one inside a cave)

The 3rd core is situated down a drop. This core is in a tight space, so you can’t run from the explosions. Use Temporal Mantle here.

After that, repel Nergigante. At this point, it should be a walk in the park for experienced hunters. Just beware of the fireballs Zorah spit at you. It takes a chunk out of your health bar.

Phase 2

This is where you’d spend a lot of time. Have one person man each cannon and the ship down the left side. Rotate when your cannon ammo depletes at your station.

The Dragonator should be used as soon as you can, so you can pull off a second shot once it cools down, around the final 5 minute mark.

IMPORTANT: Make sure everyone picks up a Binder Ammo. This ammo allows you to stagger Zorah Magdaros via the ballista. Very useful when he’s about to unleash his charged attack. Rotate accordingly, and don’t waste Binder Ammo.

Farm Everything!

You’re going to be spending a lot of resources from building new armour sets and weapons in Iceborne. So, pick up that Bandit Mantle and start whacking monsters with it. Harder monsters, such as high-rank and Elder Dragons, drop more expensive scales for you to sell.

Armor Spheres will be used extensively, although there will be a new type of Armor Sphere, we assume it will be quite rare.

Here’s everything you can farm for that kick start when you begin Iceborne:

  • Decorations
  • Armor Spheres
  • Streamstones
  • Golden Wyverian Prints
  • Meal Vouchers
  • Lucky Vouchers

Don’t Forget To Help Our New Hunters

SOS High Rank.jpg

Drop into the SOS Menu and lend a hand to some struggling hunters. It’s fun to blow off some steam once in a while but still being helpful at the same time. Remember, we were once struggling hunters too.

The Iceborne expansion will also introduce incentives for higher rank hunters helping out lower rank hunters through SOS.

According to Iceborne directors, Kaname Fujioka and Daisuke Ichihara, the game will introduce a system called Hunter Helper. This works by rewarding higher rank players who help finish quests of lower rank players. They didn’t reveal what the rewards would be, but some rumours indicate that the rewards would be very valuable.

The more hunters who complete the base game, the larger the Iceborne community becomes!

There you have it, hunters. Did we miss anything? Please share your tips down below. We can’t wait to explore what Monster Hunter World: Iceborne has to offer.

We will come up with more exciting features like this in the coming weeks. So, stay tuned, hunters!
