E3 2019 Heroine Ikumi Nakamura Leaves Zenimax
By Burhanudin Zamri|September 5, 2019|0 Comment
Ask anyone who watched Bethesda’s conference at E3 2019 and 9 times out of 10, I guarantee you that they’ll say Ikumi Nakamura was one of the best highlights of the entire expo. Her cheerful and sincere display of passion during her stage appearance still makes me smile when I remember it.
However, it seems that Ikumi will no longer be working on GhostWire: Toyko (the game she presented at E3). After 9 years of being creative director and art director at Tango Gameworks, she tweeted out an announcement stating that her journey with the company has come to an end.
After 9 years as Creative director & Art Director at Tango and Zenimax – I felt here is one of ends of the journeys . I learned from the talented people I’ve worked with and I respect. ðŸ™ðŸ˜Š Contact me if anyone wants to work with me! → https://t.co/4VKLdY2ejl pic.twitter.com/Hbsuta3Rgo

It’s weird that Ikumi would leave after generating so much attention towards GhostWire: Tokyo. The game still doesn’t have a release date and no gameplay footage has been shown yet which suggests it’s still pretty early in its development.
With her experience in leading the creative decisions for games like The Evil Within and its sequel, Tango (owned by Zenimax) is definitely going to have a hard time replacing her.
Nonetheless, it’s something for fans of Ms. Nakamura to be celebrating as it strongly signifies that she is excited to lead new projects and gain more experience in the video game industry.
Where will her adventure take her next?
In the words of Ikumi herself, “mite ne!”
