Your Steam Library Is About To Get A Makeover
By Burhanudin Zamri|September 5, 2019|0 Comment
One thing to love about Steam is how easy it is to navigate your game library and find the exact titles you want to play or reinstall every once in a while. However, it isn’t perfect. Sometimes you miss big important updates of games you no longer play and possibly miss out on a chance to rediscover a game you once loved.
Worry no more, my non-Epic Games Store comrades, Steam is going to introduce a ton of changes to your games library to further improve our gaming experience on the platform. The biggest change, of course, is how it’ll look.
The new Steam Library open beta starts on 17 September 2019 and if you decide to take part, you’ll be greeted by this new layout that will have a new landing page which displays updates to games you own, recently played games, your friends’ activities, and more.
When you select one of the games in your library, the page will show you a lot more information than before. Stuff like recent achievements from your friends who also own the game, latest community content, latest update information, and also a list of your friends’ interactions with the game such as them putting it on their wishlist or having played it a while ago.
Remember that point I mentioned on missing big important updates that could potentially let you re-enjoy an old game you uninstalled? The new Steam Library aims to make sure that we won’t ever have to miss out on those updates ever again. The moment you access library, you will be notified of new updates for the games you have.
Game developers will also be given access to tools that will let them customise the way these notifications are received. For game developers and those of you interested in reading more about those tools, refer here.
So far that’s all we know about the upcoming new Steam Library beta. Again, the beta goes live on 17 September 2019 and every Steam user is encouraged to participate so that more improvements can be made for the final version.
