Koei Tecmo And Gust Announce New Fairy Tail RPG

Koei Tecmo has just unveiled the first trailer for a new Fairy Tail RPG, currently being developed by Gust, the studio behind the Atelier series. To make sure that the game maintains the essence of the original work, the manga’s writer and illustrator Hiro Mashima will be supervising the project.

The trailer doesn’t show off a lot of gamplay but there’s a bunch of cutscenes that show skills/actions that heavily resemble the way special moves are portrayed in Koei Tecmo’s musou games. Despite the trailer explicitly showing that the game is just an RPG, it could potentially be a musou game with RPG elements. We’ll have to wait and see.

Main characters of the manga Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Erza, and a few others will be in the game and it looks like we might be playing as multiple characters. So far no other details have been revealed and we don’t know whether the main campaign will cover the entire concluded storyline of the manga or just a portion of it.

Fairy Tail (yeah, that’s it, that’s the title) is scheduled to be released sometime in 2020 for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam). The game will be shown at Tokyo Game Show 2019 so stay tuned for more news!
