Lupin III 3D Film Gets Release Date & New Trailer

I never thought humanity would survive long enough to see a 3D film version of anime cat burglar heist classic Lupin III, yet here we are. And it’s still looking sweet.

Called Lupin III: The First, this CGI adaptation of the series starring artist Monkey Punch’s lanky characters and curvy badass females will hit Japan theatres 6th December.

The trailer introduces a new character into the fray: Leticia. Seems like she’s in search of the show’s MacGuffin and she needs the thief’s help. The film is directed by Takashi Yamazaki and music is by Yuji Ono.

So far, it’s looking just as sexy as Fujiko Mine. The CGI here is using the same style as that Dragon Quest movie and it’s accentuated further with Monkey Punch’s highly-flexible characters and its pulp action beats.

Expect Southeast Asia to have this film in theatres a month or so after Japan’s release, if other distributed animes like Weathering With You is of any indication. While you wait, here are more trailers of the adaptation; it looks hella gorgeous!
