Here’s A Closer Look At Marvel’s Avengers’ Kamala Khan Costume

One of the biggest surprises from New York Comic Con 2019 so far is the confirmation of Kamala Khan AKA Ms. Marvel as a playable character in the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers game by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal (under Square Enix).

While she has previously appeared in animated form in both Marvel’s Avengers Assemble and Marvel’s Spider-Man (aside from her comic book appearances), she has yer to be adapted into live-action or more realistic versions. Her confirmed presence in Marvel’s Avengers will mark the first time.

Many people, including the character’s co-creator G. Willow Wilson, have pointed out that Kamala Khan’s stretchy and embiggening powers won’t translate well to live-action, despite the fact that even Mr Fantastic himself (who has similar powers) have already made it to the big screen in two movies without any problems of him looking too cartoonish.

In Marvel’s Avengers, it looks like Kamala Khan won’t be donning the spandex of her comic book counterpart, but will instead be wearing something more sensible and practical. Her costume in the game looks South Asian in origin, which fits her culture and traditions. She also visibly wears a bangle on her left arm, as well as a red scarf on her neck.

As a comic book fan, I like that it pays homage to both her comic book costume and culture. Check out the costume below (that was showcased at NYCC 2019), courtesy of the Marvel’s Avengers official Twitter account.

Marvel’s Avengers is slated to launch for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on 15 May 2020. In the meantime, head on over here to read my first impressions of the game or check out 5 things you need to know about the game here.
